Marketing a 'branded' business can be a drag... You’ve tried Twitter, tried Facebook but you still feel like you are getting nowhere. Approaching your marketing with branding in mind allows you to create customer engagement and emotional connection. If your business brand is struggling to gain awareness, try a few of these different tactics to increase exposure.

Do something different

Whenever you see a viral video or hear of a highly successful “off the cuff” marketing initiative, try and take time to understand how the initiators formed their thoughts. Put yourself in the role of the most highly paid executive on Madison Avenue, famous for constantly thinking outside of the box and see how you could enhance your position.

If you are in a niche not known for its jocularity, inject some! Maybe you’re an accounting service provider – create a video about something funny and lighthearted around tax time.

Give your clients something - "for free"?

Surprise all your clients and prospects by giving something of great value to them at no charge and also on a regular basis. Look where the next growth area may be in your particular niche and then go out of your way to create a meaty white paper or newsletter.

Don't forget that journalists are often busy too, so your writing might find itself very welcome on an otherwise distracted/busy trade magazine journalist looking for something to fill up their publication!

Not so much out of the box, but these days everyone is using the Internet for EVERYTHING! If you are trying to reach a local audience, direct mail campaigns can be effective in getting locals to pay attention to your location.
